Great review for the New American Sweethearts (a part of BUA's Take Ten)!
"It wraps up with Michael Trottier’s riotously funny and eventually very dark play “The New American Sweethearts,” directed by LaValley. Sacco and Erb play a pair of actors and roommates trying to make it in Hollywood. When the straight roommate lands a job playing a flamboyantly gay character on a hit TV series, the other hitches his wagon to that particularly odd star and rides it to somewhere totally unexpected."
Also coming up: a staged reading Nonfatal Terminal Velocity at the Player's Theatre in Sarasota.
Michael Trottier graduated from Colby College with honors in Theater and Dance and an English degree with a concentration in creative writing. His full-length plays: Caricatures, Dogwood Cross, and Nonfatal Terminal Velocity were all produced at Colby along with five of his one-acts. He has won two national contests for his plays, What Happens Now? (Staged Reading, Cherry Lane) and Oliver and Hannah. He has dramaturged four productions with Florida Studio Theatre (FST), including the upcoming regional premiere of Mark St. Germain’s The Best of Enemies. He was also a contributing writer on FST’s 2012 Goodwill Tour and is currently developing Caribbean Soul, a cabaret that will premiere at FST in February 2013. He has worked with The Acting Loft, Boston Playwright's Theatre, Buffalo United Artists, Colby College, The Blank Theatre Company, Brown/Trinity Playwright’s Rep, Florida Studio Theatre, The New Hampshire Educational Theatre Festival, and Young Playwrights, Inc.
